This post should wrap up the final installment for my trip to Tokyo
Find the good eats, shopping and Disneyland trip all here after a few scrolls
First up, a mandatory #PatStarTravels shot when we checked in to Hilton Shinjuku
Price: 36,000 yen
for a 2 way transfer + English speaking driver + Meet & Greet at Airport
We got a 7 seater vehicle that looks somewhat like an Alphard
It was about a 90 minute ride to Hilton Shinjuku
Rent a Car
I chose Nissan Rent a Car just coz of its rental office location that was very near the hotel!
Car rental charges were actually very affordable.
It was the road tolls that kill
Each time you go onto the expressway, it will cost you about SGD20
It was already 8pm when we arrived at the hotel to check in
Famished and cold
Didn’t help when it was also raining
The only dining option that has an available table for us was in Hilton’s Japanese Restaurant: Junisoh
Let me show you our dinner that night
I really have no idea what I’m eating though~
What I think this Place is:
Japanese Fine Dining
What I think I’m eating:
A part of prawn, a part of lobster, some mushrooms
How much I think we paid:
Let’s not remind ourselves
Did I enjoy it?
Not at all.. too fine for my liking
Tully’s Coffee the saviour!!!
Hot coffee in a cold and wet morning – best combo anyone can wish for!
Spent about 2.5 hours in Shinjuku Gyoen in the morning snapping photos
see more on previous post
Then a 9 minute walk from the entrance of Shinjuku Gyoen to Takashimaya!
Who can resist 14 storeys of shopping and food?!
Lunch at Tonkatsu Tonsho
Takashimaya Level 13, Unit 27
Reviews and ratings on tripadvisor is at 3.5 out of 5
I think this restaurant definitely deserves more!
Somehow, the rice was really yummy and my ebi tempura was one of the best I’ve had!
Dinner at Kani Doraku was actually the highlight of the whole trip!
Recommended by my girlfriend, it’s a MUST-GO place if you love crab as much as I do!
This is a really popular chain restaurant though, be sure to make an online reservation as early as 2 months before on this site
We ordered 2 Crab set meals for 3 pax
Each set meal comes with more than one type of crab, typically horsecrab and snow crab
cooked in several different ways
Crab sashimi – for the brave only
Crab roe which I call it crab ‘mud’
Mr R loved it and mixed with rice to consume
It smells like mud to me, really!
The meals end with a scoop of ice cream each!
No more cherry blossoms talk here
Shibuya shopping was just a couple of hours and I bought my beauty essentials from the drug stores on the streets
I’m sure Shibuya doesn’t require further recommendations since it’s famous enough
Especially for the busiest cross junction!
At 4pm, we went to Cerulean Towers which is about 10 minutes walk from the Shibuya crossing.
The Bar on the 40th floor boasts a panoramic view of Tokyo City
Here’s how it looks like…
I guess Mr R misses food at home
He ordered curry chicken……
We sat there till the sun sets and this was what we got:
My last Tokyo trip in 2009, I’ve already been to DisneySea and thought I’ll give the good ol’Disneyland a hit
The biggest mistake I made was:
Not Checking when were Japan School Holidays
I was shocked to see the amount of people showing up at Disneyland that morning
There was almost no visible floor space as it was covered up with humans
Every attraction’s queue was more than an hour
At 11am, we went to grab a fast pass for a popular ride
The comeback timing was 7 pm to 8pm
We ended up queuing anyway!
It was Easter Week!
Whole Disneyland was transformed with these cute eggs decor and those were actually real fresh flowers!
#PatStarTravels went to Disneyland with us too!!
While standing in line for rides, we saw many kiddos with a tumbler hanging on their necks and they ate popcorn from it
We realised that this was like the ‘THING’ to do when you’re in Disneyland
So… We also bought one for ourselves!
BB8 & R2D2!!
We wanted to leave before the night parade but stumbled upon it anyway!
We caught the fireworks at the carpark!!!
Drove to Gotemba Premium Outlet
It may be smaller than those in the States but 7 hours of shopping time still did not allow me to complete the whole outlet
I consider myself really LUCKY to be able to see Mount Fuji so clearly and snap many photos of it on our way driving there
During my last visit, I was also extremely lucky to have seen Fuji~
“Mount Fuji is notoriously shy showing up only 80 days in a year.
It is a sad reality that anyone will only have 20% chance of seeing Mount Fuji.”
Nothing has changed!
Crazy Crepes have been in business in Gotemba for the last 8 years or so!
One of the best dessert crepes I’ve had!
So this concludes our journey and we headed back home the very next morning!
With luggages that were on the verge of exploding
We totally underestimated our potential in shopping
Note to Self: just bring more empty baggages next time!
