Movie Review: The Eyes Diary

Directed by one of Thailand most talented film makers, Chukiat Sakveerakul, THE EYES DIARY will be in cinemas from 27th November. Apart from Thai horror usual scare factor, another reason to watch Thai horror is the wave of young talents cast in the movie.
Catch 4 Thailand rising stars Jack Kittisak Mako , Focus and Panjan as they lead you to experience the most romantic horror of the year.

The movie will be showing exclusively at Cathay Cineplexes : AMK Hub, Causeway Point , Cineleisure Orchard and JEM.

As we all know, Thailand’s horror movies are always packed with that extra punch of scary deals
I am possibly the biggest horror fan you know
and have caught almost ALL horror movies screened in my lifetime!
It’s been a long time since a horror movie allowed me to shut my eyes not twice, but thrice~

There was sufficient gore
Friendships and romantic relationships
Let’s admit it, I have always been bored by the romance in a horror movie
It might have been important to showcase the stories among the actors
But I would prefer the plot to be more focused on being a horror movie

Both John and Nott are body collectors
That was how the movie started off
Here, we can possibly guess when and why will souls be appearing
People on such jobs are more likely to be faced with spirits from the other world

Pla and Nott were separated by Pla’s death
A small twist at the end of the story between the lovers was extremely satisfying for me
I totally appreciated the injection of humour at a few points in the movie
That literally gave me a certain sense of relief
when my arms were stiff from covering my ears and providing gaps between the fingers for my eyes

The Director, Chookiat Sakveerakul’s impression of souls (ghosts)
is similar to that of zombies
Given the make up and the way the souls were moving around in the movie
they aren’t the floating kinds
they either walk like normal humans or the undead instead

The romance between the main characters can be classified as puppy love
I can understand the bond between them and it’s always nice to revisit the kind of sweet feelings we once had in our teens
The urge to see Pla again caused much distraught to Nott
He went through all ways even by collecting personal belongings from the dead bodies he collected
hoping that the souls would return to retrieve them

The title of the movie: THE EYES DIARY
The relevance of the title to the plot happens a tad after midway of the screentime
Exploring a haunted and abandoned hospital building in its ruins was said to be cursed
No one would made it out
but John did

Souls from the other world was made visible to him after his haunting exploration
We can relate to the Chinese saying where there are some people in the world who have the “third eye”
They are able to see what normal people can’t

An eerie cursed doll appeared in the movie as well
The tiny version of Annabelle
This should be the best reason for you to remove all forms of dolls from your sight

I’d leave you with more images from the movie
Watch the trailer below and You can be sure that The Eyes Diary will satisfy your horror cravings!
