Booze and Bod: How can they co-exist?

Booze and Bod
Trust me, they can co-exist

Seems like this is the most common question everyone has been interested with for the longest time
Friends who have been following up with my life since 6 years ago
would have been solid eye witnesses to my partying and drinking ways

I’m not born with the perfect mechanism that smears all traces of alcohol away and at the same time, melts all forms of calories from the junk food I gorge
With age not on my side, heading over the big 3s has significant impact on how my bod looks…
There are at least 2 days in a week where I crave for an ice cold beer
ok, make that 2
It’s becoming the mainstream of my diet that there has been a subconscious mental reminder to cut down on the portion each meal

I do not have a specific routine and every day of my life is different
That’s the beauty of it
but I can give you a glimpse of what goes on
which can help both booze and bod co-exist

Booze

Minimally 3 drinking sessions per week
Mild consumption: 3 pints per session
Level consumption: A bucket per session + some whisky/brandy/vodka
High consumption: 3 Jugs of beer + half a bottle of whisky/brandy/vodka + you likely can’t remember what comes next

Workout

Let’s face it
There’s no shortcut
I would think that my output in terms of effort has just right neutralises the effect of alcohol consumption

In a week,
I have ONE HOUR session of crossfit training either in the form of circuit training, metabolic aerobic training or (this I very much prefer not to do) crosscore training
ONE HOUR run outdoors
Do not cheat yourself by being on the treadmill like a lab mouse
The effect of the eventual metabolic rate will never equate that to an outdoor run
ONE HOUR less active exercise
like yoga~

Sparing 3 hours per week on working out is not too much to ask for right?
If you aren’t working out right now, the most difficult stage is always the first step out
the momentum will arrive shortly after!

Breakfast

Typically
just bread and milk
or cereals with milk

Lunch

Skipped most of the times
but if you really have to eat
I would say a third of a normal portion of chicken rice
less rice + breast meat only (NO SKIN)

Dinner

If I’m really hungry
I’ll have the entire main course
Otherwise, just an appetizer portion or a salad
accompanied by a beer of course
Fruit juices as a substitute on detox days

Snack

Ben n Jerrys Ice Cream
Potato Chips
with Moscato

****

I’m known for being a picky eater
I do not really think that’s a good description of my diet
Being Selective will be better =)
Here’s a short list of food which I completely abstain from
Not due to any form of religion, but just from upset tastebuds

  • Beef
  • Mutton
  • Duck
  • Pork
  • Fishes that are just too fishy (you get what I mean)
  • Sashimi
  • Oysters/clams/mussels

So What’s my favourite?

  • Abalone
  • Crab
  • Prawn
  • Mushrooms
  • Green leafy vegetables
  • Carrots
  • Chicken breast meat
  • Egg
  • Chocolate
  • Ice cream

I’m not exactly the healthiest person
This ain’t a perfect guideline on a healthy basis
I’m just sharing with everyone who has been very puzzled with how I managed to stay looking this way
Given how much I love drinking ~
