The New York Fusion Tapas Bar

Initiated in New York City on the 8th street of lower Manhattan
Making ‘East meet West’ in food terms
East 8 literally went across the globe and arrived on our tiny island

Located at
10 COLEMAN STREET #01-21/22 (Facing Hill Street)
GRAND PARK HOTEL CITY HALL

This dinner happened more than a month ago but I’m still intrigued to write about it
note: this is not a sponsored event
However I did get two for two tapas with The Entertainers App

We all had a cocktail each
Having read reviews on how special the concoctions were
I chose the East Village – which comes in a pairSparkling Jelly Sake with fresh raspberries and a hint of sweet peach
This was the first item on the cocktail menu – which also signifies that it’s the lightest in terms of alcoholic content
The drink gets heavier as you go down the list!

It’s been known that I shake my head to raw food
I just can’t seem to digest the very fact that the food is not cooked!
Here, twin ordered the YUZU MISO SCALLOPS
which I cleared more than half the plate

Hokkaido scallops yuzu miso dressing & salmon roe

So fresh that I asked for more!

HAMACHI & CAVIAR
Fresh hamachi with sesame, soy dressing & black caviar

This, I did not touch it
Since prior to it, the scallops were already a major adventure for me
I shan’t risk my tastebuds again
But from raving thumbs up from friends, I can tell that they enjoyed this so much!

Uncommon as it is – to order salad at a Tapas Bar…
Twin and me can’t do without our salads
So this is a compulsory item

THE SHERRY GREEN ROCKETS
Rocket salad, sweet pear, cherry tomato, roasted pine nut, sherry dressing

I’m not a fan of pine nuts though
Otherwise the entire combination of the sherry dressing with Rockets is decadent
Not forgetting the sweet pear slices which is both juicy and crunchy altogether

BAKED LOBSTER DYNAMITE
Lobster tail baked with mushroom crunch, ebi caviar, melted creamy cheese

Fresh lobster tail but an overload of cream cheese smoked my appetite
I couldn’t taste any other stuff after that
and decided to remove the cheese
For cheese lovers, I think that should be ample for you

LIME BUTTERED CRISPY CRAB
Buttered cereal spiced crispy soft shell crab with hint of lime and chili

This Japanese fusion dish gives an extra punch to the usual fried soft shell crab
The huge lime distinguished the seafood smog of the crab
leaving just the crispiness in your mouth

GARLIC TIGER PRAWN
Classic tiger prawn cooked with garlic and chili

It’s seafood mania I know
There’s also about 4 other MEAT dishes which I forgo
Did not even attempt to document them since I’m not a meat eater
so, bear with me for my love of prawns

This definitely can’t go wrong in any way
All I wish was for the prawns to be larger than Tiger =p

MISO CHILEAN SEABASS
Marinated Chilean seabass in miso and wine, buttered shimeji mushroom

We almost combed through the seafood portion of the menu and ordered everything there
I’ve always indicated that I only eat cod fish but the Miso Chilean Seabass surprised me big time!
Words can’t explain how good this was – but I just got to head back and have it another round

I have nothing but praises for East 8
You know me for my direct opinions and if you ain’t good, I’d shame you without hesitation!

Leaving you the lovely menu from East 8….
