Great Eastern Women’s Run 2014

Last Sunday morning, the weather wasn’t too kind on us
I woke up to the scent of coffee, realising my twin already made coffee for me
That’s my secret formula for the race day!

Arriving an hour earlier than flag off time
wanting to be on time for the warm up session by fitness trainers from True Fitness
The very regimented bag drop area was almost empty

The nocturnal twins made an effort to be sleeping by 1am
and managed to be hyped up for our 10km race

My brilliant idea of waterproofing important electronics like camera and what knots
After removing the race tag from the ziploc, I put my important stuff in the bag and I was good to go!

Strolling in the heavy drizzle toward the start line
and enjoying a majestic view of the Singapore Flyer

Finding out spot to kick start the True Fitness way of warm up
I was pretty jittery since I have not ran for a month prior to this and throughout my years of own runs, I’ve done a max of 5.5km each time
Initially I was very tempted to simply sign up for the 5km race, however my twin suggested that we should challenge ourselves a little more and go for 10

So here it goes….

My objective was to complete the race before 1 hour 20 minutes and I met it!
The last time I did my personal best for 10km was 4 years ago
at 50 minutes flat
I have to admit
I stopped 3 times at every water point sipping 100 plus!
Perhaps totally unaccustomed to running in daylight, my body has been losing too much water
Can’t help it but lose those minutes over there

This was one of the test shot taken by my twin
She was duly waiting for me at the finishing line
and made sure she caught a right angle, right lighting, right frame
however she missed me at the end
*for laughs~

So we did the “aftermath-rectification” shots…

Right after crossing the finishing line,
all the runners were directed to respective lanes
where we were distributed our medals, 100 Plus, mineral water and a banana

Lesson learnt: Never have nail extensions at this point!
Dehydrated to the max
I was dying to gorge the chilled 100 Plus
but I could not lift the cap on the can!

Earlier on my Facebook Timeline,
I posted the contents of the RacePack
The Tupperware water bottle being my favourite!

Perfect!
The best waterbottle mascot ever!

Thank you Great Eastern for the invite to be part of the GEWR 2014 event!
I’ve also enjoyed the fringe activity prior to the race!

Great Eastern Women’s Run Fringe Activity: BodyCombat by True Fitness

Twin has so far checked my interests in doing the half marathon next year
I’ll have to consider further about the distance, but I’m definitely signing up again for a minimum of 10km run!
