Review: AOne Claypot House

If AOne sounds familiar to you,
you might have seen their claypot food stalls in various food courts around the island since 2008
AOne has been bringing you their proud claypot dishes inspired by traditional cooking methods
They have now expanded into full fledge restaurants plaguing our malls in the heartlands

Personally, I have never tried AOne before and my first attempt was during the food review event
As I have always been worried about the generous portions that claypot dishes offer (that I will never be able to finish them on my own)
Claypots are usually not my first choice when it comes to dining…
AOne however educated us on the Benefits of Claypots:

  • Claypot have good airflow, good heat insulation, and therefore locking all the moisture and nutrients in while cooking.
  • When heated, it provides slow evaporation of steam. This moist environment is conducive for cooking, resulting in very tender and juicy meats that are also richer in taste.
  • For the health conscious, claypot cooking uses less oil yet retains its natural flavours.

Premium Dried Scallop Porridge

Award winning traditional claypot scallop porridge. Using Pearl White Rice, together with the combination of flavours from the scallops, fresh slices of fish and cuttlefish infused into the porridge – making it a sweet, smooth gooey texture that melts in your mouth

AOne considers this serving for sharing among 4 people
I have recently went back to AOne and ordered a Fish Claypot Porridge which is meant for 1 pax
My parents and I ended up sharing the pot and we were just right well fed!

AOne’s porridge is filled with flavour, very tasty and the gooey texture achieved is just the right kind that I love to have!

Four Heavenly Kings

Eggplant is low in calories and a good source of fiber. An assorted of wholesome, tasty greens – eggplant, french bean, long bean, and lady finger, stir-fried with minced meat in sambal chilli sauce.

Named the Four Heavenly Kings as there are 4 different kind of vegetables cooked in sambal chilli sauce
Delightfully fitted to our local tastebuds!

Deep Fried Pumpkin and Lotus Root with Creamy Salted Egg Sauce

Pumpkin and Lotus Root are the 2 vegetable items that can be considered as acquired taste
Not everyone like them and I happen to be one who love them both
Just not the salted egg sauce
However, the combination does turn out to be not too bad!
I would still order it the next round~

Claypot Chicken

Deep Fried Prawns with Creamy Salted Egg Sauce

My Favourite dish so far
Fresh prawns fried in a thin layer of flour
There’s more prawn goodness than anything else

Traditional Chye Por Omelette with Pork Floss

As a Teochew tradition, the salty chye por in an egg batter has always been the companion for porridge dishes
This round, AOne added some minced pork within the egg and topping it off with pork floss as a garnish
This dish is good for a 4 pax sharing!

Premium Claypot
with Abalone, Mushroom, Scallop, Sliced Fish, Prawn and Fish Maw

A wholesome brew of premium ingredients
Everything in the pot is to my favour except fish maw
Not too difficult to skip that though~

Claypot Fish Maw with Crab Meat Thick Soup

Claypot Black Pepper Crabmeat Vermicelli

If you love black pepper crab, this should be an interesting replica of it
